Studies on Toxic Pesticide Residues in Foods

Abstract
The study was carried out on certain agricultural products which were obtained from markets in the seoul area.
The results of the investigation are summarized as follows.
1. Arsene residues in straw-berry are trace, in grape trace 0.08ppm, in apple 0.13-0.73ppm, in pear trace 0.03ppm, in rice trace 0.09ppm.
2. Copper residues in straw-berry are 0.27-0.73ppm, in grape 1.05-6.73ppm, in apple 1.65-3.03ppm, in pear 0.24-1.14ppm, in rice 0.89-3.09ppm.
3. Organic mercury residues in straw-berry are trace 0.04ppm, in grape trace 0.03ppm, in apple 0.03-0.07ppm, in pear trace 0.05ppm, in rice 0.02-0.08ppm.
4. Trganic chloride (r-BHC) residues in straw-berry are 0.013-0.036ppm, in grape 0.015-0.045ppm, in apple 0.015-0.032ppm, in pear 0.017-0.035, in rice 0.005-0.015ppm.
According to the results which were in vestigated from 1968 to 1971 the contents of pesticide in food were within the limits of permitted tolerace.
It is recommened that an independent office or unit should be established for the purpose of carring out investigation and assay of pesticide residues in foods.
